Cristian Quintana is a fourth generation Cigar enthusiasts. He’s worked on every area of the cigar making process since he was 8 years old, when he used to travel to the fields with his father and tend the tobacco plants.
Throughout the years he’s grown in knowledge of his fields by working for the best of the best in the Cigar industry, such as Tabacalera Palma, La Aurora, and others.
In 2009, Cristian established his own Cigar factory, which has stayed in operation successfully to this day. And in 2018 he met his partner and co-founder of Tabacalera Caballeros, Marco, through a mutual friend. Since then they started collaborating and in 2022 decided to start a new company, with a goal of producing great cigars.
Marco smoked his first cigar at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, and was instantly hooked!
Since then his love of Cigars only grew stronger. He opened several stores, did some wholesale and importing, threw some cigar parties here and there, went to cigar festivals and trade shows, and visited the Dominican Republic for 30+ years where he, of course, smoked a ton of cigars.
The name Tabacalera Caballeros pays homage to the city of Santiago de los Caballeros’ origins.
Founded in 1495 during the first wave of European settlement in the New World, the city is the “first Santiago of the Americas”. Today it is one of the Dominican Republic’s cultural, political, industrial and financial centers. Due to its location in the fertile Cibao Valley it has a robust agricultural sector and is a leading exporter of rum, textiles, and cigars. Santiago is known as “La Ciudad Corazón” ♥.
Santiago de los Caballeros has historically been the capital of the country, and was an important strategic city in the Dominican War of Independence. The name of the city, Saint James of the Knights, refers to the Hidalgos de la Isabela, a group of knights who had come from La Isabela city to stay in Santiago. Sometimes the city is called Santiago de los 30 Caballeros.
Santiago de los Caballeros is the second-largest city in the Dominican Republic and the fourth-largest city in the Caribbean by population. It is the capital of Santiago Province and the largest major metropolis in the Cibao region of the country.
